Just Married @Stuart Macrory Photography

Sophie and Joe got married in Northern Ireland, Joe’s homeland, in the most idyllic location, surrounded by their closest friends and family. They had met at work five years ago, and had already very much had the “let’s get married” conversation and even picked the engagement ring, yet it then took six months to find the right moment to propose. In fact, Joe had taken to carrying the ring pretty much everywhere with him! The occasion finally presented itself when they went for a walk in the Lake District and sat watching the world go by on a pebbled beach, and it was worth the wait. Once they’d picked their venue, the next step was for Sophie to find her dream dress.

“I first met the team from Alice Rose Bridal at a wedding fair at Alrewas Hayes. I actually saw Patrizia by Eddy K hanging up on the rail there and kept on coming back to it as I loved it so much. Also, you all seemed so lovely! I went to a number of bridal shops but I loved Alice Rose as it had a good range of styles. However, even though I tried on a number of dresses, I was always drawn back to Patrizia and knew it had to be mine!”

“I just loved the style – it was so pretty. I didn’t think I’d have lace, but the way it is used on the side panelling and the back is so different and made it really special. I also didn’t think I’d have a fitted dress, but it was so flattering that I couldn’t resist.”

“I was taken aback when I saw our venue for the first time – just like I was when I saw my dress. The church where we got married was a tiny church on the grounds, then we had a yurt with a see-through roof for the reception. It was a glorious sunny day, and my dress just lit up! I was able to hook up my dress to navigate the outside, and the comfort of the dress meant that I could dance and just get on with things without a worry. I also quickly swapped my heels for trainers and they totally worked!”

“My advice when wedding dress shopping is stay open-minded and try them all on! They all look so different on and you feel so different when you’re in it – you’ll know when you’ve found the right one. Your wedding day goes so quickly so make the most of it. If you try to stay relaxed, it can be such a magical experience.”
