Meant to be @Alto Contraste

Amber and Dan have known each other since they were twelve years old, when they could see each other’s house over the nearby park. Dan was good friends with Amber’s brother and liked her straight away, but was always too afraid to ask her out, despite their paths often crossing. In 2016, they both found themselves single at the same time, and Dan finally asked Amber out on a date. Amber says that she knew in an instant “this was my person”, and discovered that everyone around her had always thought so! Dan proposed to Amber when on a surprise trip to Paris, somewhere Amber had always wanted to go. They walked to the Eiffel Tower, waited for the light show, and then Dan proposed under the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower. They got married in a registry office before having their blessing in Spain in the gorgeous sunshine, and once again timing was everything: they had hoped to get married on their 7 year anniversary but couldn’t book that date, which was lucky as it was pouring with rain that day! Instead, as Amber reflects, they had the most perfect day.

An adorable couple in a beautiful location @Alto Contraste

“I was so nervous about trying on dresses. I’d never wanted to get married until I met Dan – and then I realised, I want to marry this man one day – and so I’d never dreamed about wearing a wedding dress. However, Donna instantly makes you feel at ease: she’s so friendly and warm and listened to what I wanted. It’s why I didn’t want to go anywhere else; I was made to feel so special. I tried on a few dresses, but when I came for a second appointment I asked if I could try on Paris, as I’d seen it on the Alice Rose website the night before and with especially with the significance of the name I just know I had to try it on. Donna said she’d already pulled it out for me to try on, so once again it felt like it was meant to be.”

The magnificent lace on Paris by Eddy K, teamed perfectly with an Alice Rose veil @Alto Contraste

“The lace on Paris, by Eddy K, is just so beautiful, and I love how it fitted to my waist and then flowed out. This was perfect in the heat, and meant I could dance and generally not have to worry. I wanted something that I could move in but felt pretty in, and Paris was perfect. I felt confident and comfortable. You want to feel beautiful when you’re being photographed all day, and I felt so confident that I didn’t even notice.”

“My dress perfectly fit with the vibes of the venue and the aesthetics. The venue was called Blankko, like blanco, which is white in Spanish, and the whiteness of the dress looked great against all the white of the venue. I hadn’t thought I’d wanted a veil until two weeks before the wedding, when Donna, being the amazing woman that she is, came to my rescue, and I’m so pleased I went for one in the end. I knew I’d picked the right dress though when my Nana, who doesn’t mince her words, said I looked beautiful and stunning.” We at Alice Rose agree, Amber!

Sunshine and happiness @Alto Contraste

“My advice when choosing your dress is listen to your instincts rather than other people’s opinions: you’re the one who’s going to wear it so trust your gut. When it comes to the wedding, definitely get it videoed – it will be the fastest day of your life but our video captured so many moments and is so personal to us. And if you’re getting married abroad, definitely get a wedding planner. Ours was amazing – we couldn’t have done it without her.”
