Confetti and sunshine @Calum McPheson

A farmer and a “city girl”, Josh and Laura met through friends when Laura’s car broke down and a friend took it to the yard at Josh’s family farm to fix it. In walked Josh in his overalls, the pair were introduced, and we think it sounds like a classic meet cute! Next scene, a few years later, where apparently Josh was so excited once he’d made the decision to propose that as soon as he’d bought the ring he couldn’t wait. Laura was still in bed one Saturday morning when Josh put on some music, brought up a cup of tea and got down on one knee. Laura says she’d just woken up and there he was – she wasn’t expecting it at all! The wedding was the wholesome, warm hug that dreams are made of. They got married in the village church and the couple could delight in seeing everyone walking from there to the reception, held in a paddock on Josh’s farm. For them, the people – and the perfect weather – made it for them and they had the perfect day.

A Farmer’s Wedding, complete with tractor! @Calum McPheson

“When I went to Alice Rose I had no idea what I was looking for. I hadn’t ever really thought about what my wedding would look like – I wasn’t a child who dreamed of my wedding day – and therefore didn’t picture what dress I would wear either. I brought my mum, Josh’s mum, Josh’s sister and her newborn baby, and each of us picked out one or two dresses. I didn’t think I would get that feeling that people talk about, but I really did. The moment I put on Cala, by Eddy K, I thought to myself, “Oh wow, I never thought I could look this pretty!” and everyone cried. We all knew it was the one.”

The beauty of Cala's floral lace on a beautiful bride @Calum McPheson

“From trying on the other dresses, I knew what did and didn’t suit me. I loved the off-the-shoulder sleeves on Cala, and the beautiful details – the flowers and the crystals were just gorgeous! Cala was traditional, fitting in with a church wedding, but had a stylish edge. It was so big that the seamstress helped me condense it down by taking out a few layers, just so I could fit into the tractor for photos! However, I didn’t want a tight “huggy” dress that I felt I could wear in a different colour to a party, I wanted to wear a ballgown and make a statement, and I definitely did!”

“The church had a meadow outside it full of flowers, and these matched the flowers on the dress so wonderfully, as did the bespoke handmade floral headpieces that my bridesmaids and I wore – recommended by Alice Rose. We had 140 day guests and 250 evening guests, so it was a lot of people in a big marquee, plus we had a big open area outside which lots of people made the most of thanks to the weather. Thanks to my dress, though, everyone could see where I was and I stood out from the crowd.”

First Dance Magic @Calum McPheson

“My advice is to get organised – lists are everything(!) – as that way you can enjoy the lead up. The actual day goes so quickly that the build up can be almost as important as the day itself. I found I didn’t have the wedding blues that my friends warned me of, and I think this is because I embraced the build up so much that by the time we got married, it was the perfect finale to a great build up. The same goes with your wedding dress – make the most of every appointment and put on your dress as many times as you want before the big day. I got my wedding hair and make-up done before one of my appointments with the seamstress and it was a perfect chance to stand and appreciate how I looked, just me and my mum – you don’t get as much chance to do this on the day itself as everything goes so quick so embrace it while you can!”
