From having the Blue Brothers as MCs to making their own “faux-quets” (fake flower bouquets!), Kayleigh and Martin were keen to make their special day as unique and “them” as possible. Martin proposed in the Maize Maze at the Adventure Farm (a place very close to both of their hearts) and asked if they could spend the rest of their lives getting lost together (no, you’re crying!). Indeed, Kayleigh reflected that when the world got lost during lockdown, they didn’t, as they were together, and as the best man remarked at their wedding, together they’ll always find their way out.

“Alice Rose is the most beautiful shop on the most beautiful of streets. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was full of smiles and genuine excitement for me. I was made to feel comfortable and safe and even though restrictions at the time meant I could only have one guest, I was able to have a zoom screen so that my future mother in law and chief bridesmaid also felt fully included. We then rotated who was in and who was on zoom for later appointments on the journey. I was so excited to be able to try samples on in the shop as this was something I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do as a plus size bride.”

“I loved how I was able to work with House of Mooshki and Donna to change my dress to reflect me; it was fun and less traditional, much like the day itself. I’m not a dressy person and didn’t want to feel like an imposter on the day, but by picking my favourite parts from different dresses I tried on I felt like I got to make a dress that was uniquely me. The details on my dress told my story. We decided to rename my dress “Daisy”, due to the cute ditsy floral pattern that I added, and this was perfect as one of my fondest memories of my grandmother, who I adored, was of her teaching me how to make daisy chains. I felt so comfortable in it – there was no risk of tripping over in it and I was free to dance the night away… which I did!”

“My advice for dress shopping is always ask if you’re dreaming of something. Don’t just assume things can’t be changed – Donna will make it work!”
