Jules and Al’s Magical Woodland Wedding

Glorious sunshine, a magical forest setting and a colourful venue packed with loved ones – this wedding was everything wedding-fanatic Jules and her lovely new husband Al were dreaming of and more. The couple made pretty much everything, from Jules’ flower crown to the copper frames and the outdoor games everyone played, they had afternoon tea as their wedding breakfast and they danced the night away to eighties classics. A far cry from Al’s proposal in their kitchen in the middle of lockdown! (To find out more about their love story, check out our Love Is In The Air blog!)

“My only regret about choosing my dress was that I only got to do it once! Even though I knew Donna would be amazing, I was so nervous when I walked into the boutique as I’d seen sooo many photos of models in the gorgeous dresses on the website and I was so worried that I’d end up trying all these beautiful dresses on and just looking terrible. However, as soon as I’d tried on my first dress I suddenly realised that wedding dresses have magical powers and even I looked in the mirror and thought I looked fabulous! I was made to feel at ease straight away and the whole process was just so much fun. I felt I could totally be myself and Donna just knew exactly what would suit me and how to make me feel extra special. I would genuinely do it every weekend if I could!”

“As I was getting married in a forest, I told Donna that I wanted to look like I’d been dressed by the fairies and she found the perfect dress for me. A lot of the dresses I’d picked out were very sparkly, with lots of ethereal layers of tulle, yet Audrey by Eddy K was relatively simple with not a sparkle in sight. However, when I put her on and caught a glimpse of me turning in the mirror, I just knew that she was the one. I was wearing the dress rather than the other way round, and I felt like the Queen of the Fairies! I love that she’s called Audrey too as Audrey Hepburn is one of my all-time favourite actresses, and, as Donna put it, it felt “effortlessly elegant”, just like her.”

“My dress was just perfect for the setting. We got married in a pergola in front of the trees and my spectacular train billowed out behind me. I had such an exquisite leaf design on the lace all over my bodice and beautiful illusion back, which was a perfect link with the trees all around me, and the almost Grecian style skirt was so light it made me feel like I was gliding rather than walking!”

“My advice is to take a moment every so often to take everything in, not just on the day but in the build up too. So many people said this to me, and I’m so glad we at least tried, as the day really does go so quickly. I asked different people who were important to me to different appointments and it meant that we all got to have that special time together, all leading up to the best moment of all when I got to marry my best friend.”
