The Newlyweds, full of smiles @ThatTattooedPhotographer

Emily and Chris spent nine years together, welcoming two boys and one dog into their family, before deciding to get married and, as Emily puts it, confirm their little unit together. Chris carried the engagement ring around with him for six months trying to find the right time to propose, and eventually chose the sparkling lights of Mercia Marina as the perfect spot. Apparently planning a wedding with two small children isn’t easy (we’re not shocked!), but Emily and Chris achieved the most wonderful small, intimate gathering, complete with a hog roast, live band and plenty of dancing, all under the beautiful barn at Christmas that they’d decorated themselves. Family means everything to this lovely pair, and looking back on their wedding day photos is tinged with sadness as it wasn’t long after that they lost both Chris’ Dad and their beloved dog, who both played such a prominent role in their special day. However, we at Alice Rose hope that they can look back on this blog as a way of treasuring the love that was clearly shared all round forever.

The beautiful bride @ThatTattooedPhotographer

“Everyone at Alice Rose is so friendly and instantly understood who we were. We visited other bridal boutiques but it just wasn’t the Donna experience – she’s so warming and welcoming and makes you feel so comfortable. She seemed to just know what I wanted and was understanding in terms of budget too.”

A loving team @ThatTattooedPhotographer

“When I tried on Rosemarie by Romantica of Devon, I welled up. I loved the sparkle more than anything else. It wasn’t too big, but the embroidered flowers on the train and bodice added beautiful extra detail. I work out, and the V-shaped back really showed this off. It really suited me and I just didn’t expect it.”

Wedding Party Goals @ThatTattooedPhotographer

“My advice when looking for dresses is take your time. You will have THAT moment – I didn’t believe I would but I did. We did so much of our wedding ourselves and it was a big commitment but really rewarding. It can be done on a less extravagant budget so decide what parts are important to you – for us, having a videographer, for instance, was so worth it. Oh, and if you have kids, it won’t go how you expected it but just go with the flow – we loved having our kids with us and wouldn’t change it for anything.”
