Oh how we love a warm and sparkly winter wedding, and Deanna and James’ wedding does not disappoint! The joyous couple met online three and a half years ago and had their first date at the Bull’s Head in Repton, which Deanna thought was fitting as she went to school in Repton (and also, you know, the yummy food!). They talked for hours and didn’t notice the time pass, and even though Deanna then went travelling, they knew they wanted to see each other again. On October 10th they made it official and two years later James proposed near their anniversary – adding the significance of the “XX” inscribed on the inside of both of their weddings rings (we know! We’re melting!). During a visit to Oktoberfest at Warwick Castle they went to Deanna’s Mum’s childhood home nearby and James proposed in front of it, right in the middle of the road! (He then had to hotfoot it to the pavement to avoid traffic!)

“Once we got engaged we didn’t want to wait, so I booked an appointment at Alice Rose Bridal as soon as we’d booked the venue! I was really looking forward to trying on dresses – it’s something you dream of since you were a little girl, isn’t it? I brought along my mum and future Mother-in-Law and had no expectations of finding my dress that day – the sale was on and I just thought I’d start getting some ideas. You all made me feel so pretty and special and it was what I’d always dreamed of. And then when I tried on Kansas I was shell-shocked as I thought to myself, I think I’ve found my dress!”

“I wanted a dress I felt confident in, and Kansas made me feel so beautiful. I loved the way the A-line shape sat on my body and I loved the sparkles in the underlayers even more! The neckline was so flattering – providing a suitable amount of cover whilst still enhancing my natural assets! Teamed with a fluffy shrug, it was the ideal choice for our winter wedding, and it fit our venue perfectly too.”

“The venue – Grangefields in Derbyshire – is an amazing mix of styles: from the traditional church-like feel of the ceremony room, through the barn-like function room, to the more industrial feeling open room where we ate. Kansas managed to fit in perfectly with all these looks, and I loved how sparkly it looked in the candlelight. I also loved getting all the compliments!”

“We absolutely loved organising our wedding, and my biggest advice would be to be decisive and to trust your gut – there’s no wrong venue, wrong dress etc, and even though it’s so easy to try and please everyone else, do what makes you happy. Be open-minded and make the most of the experience. It’s always good to use a photographer that’s been to the venue as they know where to get the good shots and I’d say a live band is a must! The big thing is that it genuinely was the best day of my life so make the most of it!”
