This couple are sunshine on a rainy day @joshuapittphotography

When Amber told us that she and Tom are super foodies and that their whole wedding day basically revolved around food and drink, we knew we were going to get on! Even their tables were named after beers from Tollgate Brewery, and this is definitely something we can get on board with! The gorgeous couple met online and when their first date turned from coffee, to dinner, to pub drinks and ended up being twelve hours of talking, they knew that they were onto a winner. Amber says Tom seemed really chill and was clearly listening when she talked, although now she jokes that he doesn’t stop talking! They had often talked in terms of “our wedding”, but it was important to Tom that his proposal was a surprise. This he achieved when they were getting ready to go out for a curry and Amber walked down the stairs to discover that Tom was at the bottom of the stairs with a ring!

“Alice Rose Bridal was the first shop we went to, and I had no idea what I wanted, other than I knew that I wanted sleeves. I was considering getting something from the High Street, but Amberlee by Romantica of Devon was the first dress that I tried on, and after that everything else that I tried on was compared to it. I went elsewhere but went back to Alice Rose afterwards just to try it on one more time as I knew it was the one! Everyone at Alice Rose made the whole experience special and helped pull it all together. We found shoes which had lacy detail which matched the headpiece, which in turn had beading which matched the bodice. And Gali added sleeves to the dress to make it the perfect dress for me.”

“The princess skirt meant it had a classic silhouette, yet the beautiful beading on the bodice really modernised it and made it special. I just loved the way it shimmered! I’ll never forget what Leah said when I was in it: she said, “You’re wearing the dress; the dress isn’t wearing you.” She was so right. There were other dresses that I tried on that were so beautiful, but it was all about the dress not the fact that it was me wearing it. Amberlee was different.”

“We really liked our venue because it was so different, like no barn we’d ever seen before. It was rustic yet modern, which is exactly how I’d describe my dress too. There were fairy lights everywhere – we even added extra ones! – and the glitter on the bodice shimmered together with the fairy lights. The bodice gave me enough room to be able to enjoy the delicious food we’d planned, and dancing was easy thanks to the full skirt which twirled on the dancefloor – I also loved how it billowed so gorgeously in the wind!”

The happy couple @joshuapittphotography

“Don’t underestimate what an amazing experience buying a wedding dress can be. I didn’t realise how important the actual experience would be until I came to Alice Rose. The team really take you in and make you feel part of a family, and you just wouldn’t get that from a High Street store. They are all genuinely excited to see you in your dress and see it all come together and really care about what you want. I love the fact that when I walk around Ashby town centre I can walk past the boutique and have such fond memories.”
