So now that every fashionista and royalist has analysed and reported on “The Dress” of our beautiful new Duchess (this still makes me really smile) What were our thoughts?
We all sat on the edge of our seats awaiting Meghan’s arrival and WOW she did not disappoint! A beautiful combination of simple elegance and class. With all the press surrounding her big day, what a fantastic ambassador and inspiration she was for brides everywhere.
THE DRESS; designed by British acclaimed designer Clare Waight Keller, for us, epitomised true timeless elegance. With Waight Keller becoming the first female Artistic Director at French fashion house Givenchy- this had its own story and we are sure Meghan wanted to celebrate and recognise this.
The stunning open bateau neckline gracefully framed the shoulders and perfectly drawing down to emphasise Meghan’s gorgeous, slender sculpted waist. Sleeves are growing evermore popular with our brides, and Meghan also chose a slim three-quarter length to add that note of refined modernity.
THE VEIL; well where do I begin? We specifically have our veils handmade for each of our brides because we adore a good love story and believe those personal touches are so important. You can imagine our excitement when Meghan’s veil was revealed!
5 metres of exquisite silk tulle with a full trim of hand-embroidered flowers in silk threads and organza.
The inspiration was taken from Meghan’s wish to have all 53 countries of the Commonwealth represented on her journey through the ceremony. Much time was spent researching the 53 individual floras to ensure each were unique and delicately designed within the spectacular floral composition.
Meghan also selected 2 personal favourites – Wintersweet; which grows in the grounds of Kensington Palace and the California Poppy; the State flower of her birth place. Symmetrically placed at the very front of the veil crops of wheat were perfectly embroidered to symbolise love and charity.
It’s been reported that workers spent hundreds of hours meticulously sewing and washing their hands every thirty minutes to keep everything pristine! As I’m writing this I am chuckling to myself as to which of our fabulous brides is going to give our Cherilyn the biggest veil challenge yet! (Sorry, not sorry Cherilyn!)
We love that Prince Harry picked flowers to add to Meghan’s bouquet – true romance!
Since the Royal wedding, we have had numerous brides return to store to raid our sparkle cabinet for tiara’s – understandable we’d say! Having the Queen as her new Grandmother in Law certainly paid off for her “something borrowed”.
“Markle’s Sparkle” was utterly stunning and timeless. There is something about a brides’ “sparkle” that just compares to no other – I guess thats why we love our jobs so much because we are privileged to be part of your love story and guide you in creating your own sparkle.
Was it what Alice Rose predicted? – Not exactly (although some predictions were much closer than others hehe)
Did we absolutely love it and watch the wedding back 157 times between us?- YES!
